
Carrie VanSlyke
Nashville-based musician and music teacher specializing in violin and viola for children, youth and adults.
Carrie VanSlyke is a versatile classical violist, equally at home on the concert stage and in the recording studio. She has performed internationally in venues such as the Sydney Opera House and Cincinnati’s Music Hall, and has spent multiple summers at the Aspen and Banff Music Festivals. From 2014 to 2024, she was a regular performer with Symphony Nova Scotia, and has collaborated with artists including Rod Stewart, Nelly Furtado, Weezer, and Josh Ross.
Since relocating to Nashville in 2024, Carrie has established herself as an in-demand studio and orchestral musician. She records regularly with the Nashville Music Scoring Orchestra and the Nashville Recording Orchestra, and performs as a member of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra (TN). She is also a frequent substitute violist with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Kentucky.
Carrie holds degrees in Viola Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and McGill University. Outside of music, she enjoys hiking, baking, reading, and biking with her husband Jeremy and their two young sons.
